Spectrum Distributing Inc.

...where we do big things from a little Island!

A number of years ago, Spectrum Distributing Inc. co-founders Carol Sellar and Liz Dobbin worked together at the Cancer Treatment Center in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. It was there that their plan to start a business together first took hold and was further strengthened when they worked together on a federally funded radiation therapy wait time project. While attending a number of national conferences for this project, Carol and Liz quickly learned that they loved working together to deliver innovative solutions to challenges, and that they shared the same work ethic – work hard, extremely hard, but have fun and build relationships while doing so. This has resulted in working relationships from one end of the country to the other, and although the project has ended, the relationships have not.

It was also during this time that Carol developed an idea for changeable eyeglass temples (sides). The idea stuck with her and while writing a business plan for the product, she discovered that a patent was already in existence, but not in Canada. After successfully negotiating with the European patent-holder for the rights as sole Canadian distributor of ChangeMe temples, Carol brought Liz onboard. With the goal of launching their product nationwide from Prince Edward Island, Carol and Liz built a relationship with Island-based optical giant Vogue Optical, and the rest as they say, is history.

Liz and Carol look forward to changing the way Canadians look at eyewear, and to once again traveling the country, making many new working relationships/friends while shopping and enjoying a good meal and a glass of wine in whatever city they happen to find themselves!
